Design and Construction
Under the track design and construction scheme, alternatives were developed to increase the capacity of the Metalsa yard. A track extension inside the yard and a track cutter to facilitate circulation between tracks were designed and built. The tracks were built with 115Re standard welded rail, M8 steel sleepers embedded in asphalt, and others were grouted in concrete. On the track cutters, No. 8 AREMA 115Re switch sets made of Narstco brand steel with Pandrol fastenings were built.
Within the scope, earthworks, drainage and the placement of high WCH track stops were carried out. A concrete slab was also built on 80 meters of railroad track. The construction was carried out on operating tracks and was coordinated with the plant to minimize the impact on operations as much as possible.
