Manufactured from steel with carbon content in the range of 0.55 to 0.70 and manganese content of 0.60 to 0.90, this tong provides the strength and durability needed to meet the demands of the rail environment.
The jaws of the tongs have an adjustable opening, with a minimum of 4″ and a maximum of 15-1/2″, allowing them to adapt to different sleeper sizes. The arms are 3`-8″ long in the horizontal position, providing adequate reach to effectively manipulate sleepers.
This tong is rigorously tested to ensure strength and reliability. It is tested by suspending a 300 lb or 400 lb load, and deflection limits are set to ensure safe and consistent performance.
